Jade Lilitri could have coasted. Six albums deep with a devoted following, nobody would have batted an eyelid if Oso Oso had simply turned up and done the thing again. Instead, an exchange of information arrives in November with a deliberate question baked into it: where do you go when your own catalogue starts influencing you as much as anything else? That's not a rhetorical flourish, it's the actual framing Lilitri puts on the record himself. "You get to a point where you are on your sixth LP for a particular project," he says, "and it's almost like the previous releases themselves become an influence." Rather than resist that pressure, he's leaned into it while hunting for territory he hasn't covered. Fair enough. The best Long Island emo-pop this side of the mid-2000s deserves to keep evolving. ## The Single Makes the Case Lead track "know you know me better" is doing the heavy lifting right now, and it earns its keep. The first thing you hear is a string arrangement, possibly synthetic, possibly not, which is a left-field way to open a song for an artist whose reputation rests on pristine, stripped-back guitar-pop. It's a small swing, but a purposeful one. Once the song settles in, it's unmistakably Oso Oso: sharp melodic instincts, emotional directness, nothing wasted. The sonic tweak announces intent without burning the house down. That balance is harder to pull off than it sounds, and Lilitri manages it. The full tracklist runs twelve songs, "4 am redemption" through to "the days", and the titles alone suggest someone working in familiar emotional coordinates while nudging the map slightly. We'll reserve judgement on the rest until we hear it, but there's nothing here to suggest any alarm. ## The Label Story Is Worth Your Attention an exchange of information lands on 6th November via Feral Twin, a brand new independent label founded by Hop Along drummer Mark Quinlan. That context matters. Quinlan's statement on the launch is worth reading in full because it sounds like someone who actually means what they're saying: he's not building a release pipeline, he's building something intentional, drawing on years across multiple sides of the industry, musician, agent, talent buyer, booker. "I'm not interested in putting out records just to fill a release schedule," he says plainly. Choosing an Oso Oso record as the debut release signals that Feral Twin has taste from the off. It's a strong opening position.
