There's a lot of sport happening this weekend, and if you're trying to follow all of it alone you're going to lose your mind somewhere around Saturday lunchtime. That's where we come in.
Saturday: Premier League, Lord's, and a heavyweight title fight
The Premier League action kicks off early with Matchday Live coverage running from 8am, with Luke McLaughlin and Sarah Rendell across all the breaking news as the transfer window ticks down toward closure. That combination of live football and deadline-day anxiety is its own specific kind of stress, and we'll be with you for all of it.
The lunchtime fixture is the one that's genuinely hard to call — Liverpool hosting Nottingham Forest at Anfield, with Andoni Iraola still working out how to impose his methods after swapping Bournemouth for Merseyside over the summer. His first competitive home game comes against a Forest side that have won their last two visits to Anfield without conceding. Oliver Glasner, meanwhile, has opened with two home defeats to Leeds. The 3pm Clockwatch takes in Bournemouth against Everton — the Cherries having thrown away a lead at Manchester City on opening day to lose — and Coventry hosting Hull in a clash between two promoted sides who've started their seasons at opposite ends of the confidence spectrum. Later in the afternoon, Scott Murray covers Spurs hosting Matthias Jaissle's side — Spurs already 3-0 down on the season after being battered by Brentford, their opponents having been denied only by a 99th-minute penalty equaliser at Liverpool. Roberto De Zerbi needs a result, fast.
And then there's the fight. The IBF heavyweight belt — relinquished by Oleksandr Usyk — is on the line at the O2 Arena, with 21-year-old Moses Itauma (14-0, 12 KOs) going up against Croatia's Filip Hrgovic (20-1, 15 KOs). Itauma could become the second-youngest heavyweight champion of all time if he wins. Prince Naseem Hamed has gone on record saying he's a "million times better" than Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. Sunday: Ipswich at Old Trafford and the US Open begins
Emillia Hawkins is on from 8am for the Sunday Matchday Live, with four Premier League games on offer. The standout is Ipswich travelling to Old Trafford on the back of beating Sunderland — Jack Clarke scoring a last-minute winner — while Michael Carrick's United are already rattled after Hull gave them a bloody nose on the opening weekend.
